Straight answer

The straight answer on microcrystalline wax

Where it earns its place, and where we will point you to something else.

Where it wins

  • Flexes and binds oil where paraffin would crack or sweat.
  • Higher melting than paraffin, with a softer, tackier feel.
  • USP and BfR-compliant grades for cosmetics and food-contact work.

When we’ll point you elsewhere

  • Need the lowest cost per kilo and a hard, glossy finish? Go to Paraffin waxes.
  • Need heat resistance without the tack? Go to Fischer-Tropsch (GTL) waxes.
  • If your product does not need to flex or hold oil, paraffin will do the job for less.

FAQ

Microcrystalline wax questions, answered

Not here? Send it to us — a line or two is enough.
What is microcrystalline wax used for?

Hot melt adhesives, cosmetics and lip care, candles, rubber protection, sealants and coatings — anywhere a wax has to stay flexible and hold oil.

Do you have USP-grade microcrystalline wax?

Yes, USP and BfR XXV-compliant grades are available for cosmetics and food-contact work.

Which grade protects tyres and rubber from ozone?

Our rubber protection blends, congealing 61–72.5 °C. Tell us your service temperature and whether you need fast bloom for new goods or long protection in service.

Can microcrystalline wax replace paraffin in my candle?

Usually as a partner rather than a replacement — micro adds flexibility and oil binding to a paraffin blend. Send us your blend and we will suggest a starting ratio.
