FAQ

Paraffin wax questions, answered

Not here? Send it to us — a line or two is enough.
Which paraffin wax do I need for candles?

Pillar and moulded candles run on hard, low-oil grades with congealing around 54–62 °C. Container candles use softer blends that hold to the glass. Tell us the candle type and the burn you want, and we will match the grade.

Do you supply food-contact paraffin wax?

Yes. Fully refined and blended grades are available against FDA 172.886, FDA 175.105 and BfR XXV. The declaration for the grade comes with the documentation pack.

What is the difference between fully refined and semi-refined paraffin?

Oil content and colour. Fully refined grades sit at or below 0.5 % oil in most cases and are white and odourless; semi-refined grades carry more oil and cost less, which suits industrial candles and matches.

Can I replace paraffin with a Fischer-Tropsch wax?

Often, yes. Fischer-Tropsch paraffins cover the same congealing range for candles and packaging, with steadier supply. Send us your current specification and we will tell you how close we can get.

Which forms and pack sizes are available?

Slabs and pastilles for most refined grades, liquid bulk for continuous users, and drums or flexitanks for slack wax. Tell us how your plant takes delivery.
