Micronized and PE wax by job

Particle size decides where a powder can go; polarity decides what it mixes with. Pick the job and we will match both.

Printing inks

Fine micronized waxes for rub and scuff resistance and slip, across offset, flexo, gravure and screen. Sharp particle size, so no grit in the film.

Paints and powder coatings

Matting, slip, scratch and anti-blocking for wood, can, powder and automotive coatings. Coarser cuts for matting, finer for slip.

Straight answer

The straight answer on micronized wax

Where it earns its place, and where we will point you to something else.

Where it wins

  • Drops straight into a finished ink or coating — no melting, no grinding.
  • Choice of particle size from fine slip grades to coarser matting grades.
  • Polar and non-polar options, so it mixes with your system rather than fighting it.

When we’ll point you elsewhere

  • Need wax in a waterborne process at high solids? Go to Wax emulsions & dispersions.
  • Formulating a hot melt rather than a coating? Go to Fischer-Tropsch (GTL) waxes.
  • Fine powders need dust control in handling. Ask us about the coarser cut if your plant is not set up for it.

FAQ

Micronized wax questions, answered

Not here? Send it to us — a line or two is enough.
What particle size do I need for an ink?

Our micronized grades run to a D50 of ≤ 13 µm, with the finest cuts at 4–5 µm. Tell us the ink system and film thickness and we will match it.

What is the difference between PE wax and oxidized PE wax?

Oxidized PE carries an acid value, which makes it emulsifiable and changes how it behaves in PVC. Plain PE wax does not.

Can micronized wax go into water-based coatings?

Yes — functionalized grades disperse directly. Or use a ready-made wax emulsion.

Do you supply PE wax for masterbatch?

Yes, in pastilles and fine powder. For pigment dispersion, also look at our Dispersion aids for masterbatch.
